It was a very interesting talk, although a little short. Perhaps I’m getting too used to the long guest speaker sessions in school. I got to the gallery midway while Libby Spears was screening shorts from her documentary Playground. Although I would say the subject is really tough to swallow without crying or feel sick to the core of your soul, I was glad that such a documentary is done to educate, expose and change hopefully the future of these children.

Libby Spears is a very nice lady, filmmaker, producer, director. I think motivated, committed and passionate should be added as well. She had spent almost 8 years on this project. Just looking at that number of years is enough to show her the respect she needs. But that’s not what she’s about I believe. I think her conviction to change what is happening shines through from her film and herself. I only got to speak with her briefly before it was time to leave and she seemed very sweet and kind. She was particularly enthusiastic that I am doing a producing program. Very cool woman. Awesome!
