To Trudge

To Trudge

We’re almost halfway through the filming of Banting but it still feels like we have a whole bunch of boulders to climb through. I must say it hasn’t been a walk in the park. Every day sets a new challenge and every day we problem solve the hits, the bumps and take a different route to get to our destination.

I once told a colleague to rephrase a job description. In the media industry, we’re constantly problem-solving on set and off set and that is what that person will learn to do. Problem-solving. But I got rephrased to not use problem-solving in the sentence. It only shows that there’s always problems on set.

But it is true.

There are always problems on set, be it yours or somebody else’s or freak of nature. There just always is. And every time, we will have to solve it – be it a good decision or not. Problems just gets more difficult and you have to up your game on it.

So we trudge on. Another 13 more days to go. My head is filled with worries and uncertainties. Be it they are disappointed, furious or disgusted, I continue.  The journey is never easy as is everything else. Perhaps its time to also re-look at next year and what it should bring.

But in any case, Banting is slowly growing on me. Izyan looks good in the role and I’m glad we found her. The features of Banting is forming up more as well now that we’re filming them. Everything visual about it is beautiful. It’s all a matter of supporting its foundations, which is a story by itself.

Tomorrow, day 12. Another batch of shit to clear up and a movie to shoot.

And maybe I should take my own advice: worrying does not empty tomorrow of its troubles. It empties today of its strengths.

Merry Christmas and Happy Boxing Day to everyone else who is celebrating!
