Ramadan Day 5

Ramadan Day 5

Something a little different for sahur today. Made some omelette!

2 eggs omelette, coffee and a glass of water

Something simple again. Protein to help last the day and coffee to lock it in. Haha. Surprisingly for the pass 5 days, I was able to sustain and have this energy going quite well with these foods. It’s the usual timing that I will start feeling the hunger which is around 5pm or so?

So I realized that it’s really not about the quantity of the food you eat for sahur to last you the day, it’s the quality or the type of food you eat.

Food for thought indeed.

For buka, once again I didn’t take picture as I was in a rush to prep the food and packing for a trip. That’s another story to tell. But ate some Malay cuisines that was bought.

Here’s a list:

  1. Cooked rice
  2. Fried paru (lungs) *local cuisine
  3. Broccoli and cauliflower stir fry
  4. Fried chicken
  5. Bergedil (potato ball)

Abit fried-y food for buka but all in all satisfying. It wasn’t 100% nice. Like the vegetable wasn’t as tasty as it should. But overall, I enjoyed it.

Honestly, I realized Ramadan is essentially a challenge to the body and mind. Amazing how we start to crave for all kinds of food when we are fasting. You start watching more food videos. That ice cold Coca Cola that would go well with something spicy. The mind just starts to fantasize.

When in actual fact, the first thing you’d go for the moment you hear the azan is an ice cold water. And you might just be full from that already before going for the desired food.

It’s really a mind discipline and control that Ramadan is all about. To reset your body and your mind. You start to appreciate that glass of water a lot more.

It’s really fascinating to observe when you take the time to listen and watch yourself during this period of time.

So to another day of discovery.
