Motivated to bring the camera again on my walk. About half an hour later it rained cats and dogs.
Read Wim Wenders (Wings of Desire) book, “INSTANT STORIES” and felt so inspired. Mayhap I’ll start to shoot more of people. Or cats. So far I’ve been shooting a lot of greeneries lately. Maybe you need to look beyond that, Asra. Will take note.

Leafs on a bridge. They were intertwining and growing upwards, using the bars as a stem or pole to hold on to. Even plants have to learn to survive and adapt. Today has been a very gray day. I was caught in the rain after this at the park. It was a huge downpour but so lovely at the same time. Drenched, as I head back home in the rain. Wonder if the leafs held steadfast to the beams…
Wim Wenders is a German director who directed the film Wings of Desire and Perfect Days. I have not seen the latter yet but enjoyed Wings of Desire immensely. It was later loosely remade into City of Angels, starring Nicholas Cage and Meg Ryan in 1998.
I got to meet Wim Wenders from a distance at the Tokyo International Film Festival in 2023. His film Perfect Days was premiering there alongside mine. It was so surreal to actually see him in person. I have been reading his book about his journey taking instant photos with his Polaroid. And alongside the photos, he shares his journey making films guerrilla style.
His polaroid films were stunning and evokes so much emotions. Back then when there weren’t digital cameras yet, polaroid or instant cameras were the fastest to develop images. While your 35mm film rolls had to be developed at the shop and takes a few days.
Anyway I was inspired by him, hence my collection of instax to begin with. I regret not saying hi to him. I also wish I had his book with me to get his signature. Perhaps in a future film festival. Who knows.
My humble collection can be found here.
